ANGIE and SHANDA'S 5 STAR REVIEWS!

ANGIE

Porter has done it again. I've been looking forward to Butler's story and it exceeded my high expectations. Butler has a colorful past - from his brother, to his wife, Caitlyn, to Grace, the woman he always desired, to drug abuse, to his banishment.

This book is about redemption. I love how Porter didn't change the heart of Butler. He still wrestles with sobriety, he still misses Caitlyn and his brother and bears that guilt. But as we saw in Iron & Bone he started to make changes for the positive. He's welcomed back into the One-Eyed Jacks and he's done with the women. He now has an old lady, Nina. But not everything is as it seems. I love the progression of the storyline in this book. A LOT happens.

I equally loved Tania. She's a strong heroine. She's perfect for Butler. They have a lot in common and some serious chemistry. She's a good daughter and sister and friend. She was strong enough to recognize her marriage was over, that she wanted more. She gave up a prestigious career because she had dreams of making her love of salvaging into a business. And most of all, her mysterious past with Finger was revealed and it was glorious. Finger had his own revelations and I may have squealed out loud. I seriously hope nobody spoils this part for anyone. It's meant to be discovered on your own. But...Porter leaves some questions unanswered so I hope Finger's book is next.

Of course the previous couples are heavily involved. We learn the name of the baby. It's pretty badass. Miller's speech made me tear up. So much goodness. Amazing book. Amazing series. Unequivocally. Bravo, Ms. Porter. Bravo.

I seriously think Cat topped Random & Rare for me. It’s so close, like neck and neck, I am so torn! Blood & Rust exceeded my expectations and frankly I am in awe of Ms. Porter’s talent. I have screamed from the roof tops for quite some time about how much I love this series. The attention to detail is astounding and it is done so beautifully. Ms. Porter knows how to “take you there” in her writing without bogging the story down. Another plus in this series is the older characters; I love reading about people around my age that I can relate to. These people are honest about who they are, they have learned the hard lessons of youth, and are done with games. Butler and Tania were made for each other and they were meant to come together at this point in their lives.

I have fallen in love with every one of the heroes in the Lock & Key series and from Butler’s introduction in book one I was hooked. He has suffered through tremendous loss and overcome addiction so he has definitely come a long way. He started his path to redemption in Iron & Bone and in Blood & Rust he is finding his way back home to the Jacks. He crosses paths with Tania (Grace’s bestie) and this starts their journey. I was so surprised by the history these two had. In their youth they weren’t right for each other but now that Butler has overcome some of his battles, and Tania has walked away from her marriage, they are ready. But of course there are some obstacles in their way.

Tania was a truly fabulous character. I freaking love the heroines in this series; they are strong, fierce, and not afraid to go for what they want. Tania is coming to the end of her marriage. In reality it was over long ago but she is done. She is ready to give her all to fulfilling her dream of opening her own shop and doing what she wants to do with no apologies. I loved the progression of Butler and Tania’s slow burn romance. The sexual tension about killed me with these two but it was worth the wait. One of the most surprising and wonderful aspects of the story was Tania’s connection to Finger. I freaking loved their relationship and I am dying to know more about Finger.

I don’t think there is anything better for me as a reader to find a series that pulls me in and won’t let go. I devoured Butler and Tania’s story and immediately dove back in to re-read some scenes. I highlighted like crazy and messaged my review partners to discuss. The story was executed so well and had so much good stuff I couldn’t possibly list it all. It is rich, vibrant, and I ate up every word and greedily wanted more. Seriously, I can’t say enough about this series and Ms. Porter’s writing. BRAVO!!

P.S. I have claimed this book as mine. There were several things that spoke to me in the story and If you keep an eye out you might spot my cameo * wink wink *. So…..back off girls! Hahahaha!!

About the Author
Cat Porter was born and raised in New York City, but also spent a few years in Europe, Texas and the suburbs along the way. As an introverted, only child, she had very big, but very secret dreams for herself. She graduated from Vassar College, was a struggling actress, an art gallery girl, special events planner, freelance writer, and had all sorts of other crazy jobs all hours of the day and night to help make those dreams come true. She has two children's books traditionally published under her maiden name. She now lives in Greece with her husband and three children, and freaks out regularly and still daydreams way too much. She is addicted to old movies, the History Channel, her iPad, her husband's homemade red wine, really dark chocolate, and her Nespresso coffee machine. Writing keeps her somewhat sane, extremely happy, and a productive member of society.
