Title: Beautiful Distraction
Author: J.C. Reed
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: April 12, 2016

From New York Times Bestselling Author, J.C. Reed, comes a new standalone novel.

Kellan Boyd always gets what he wants—except that one infuriating city girl who bumped into his new chick magnet sports car, dared to call him a jerk, and basically threw his pity check in his face.

Fast forward three months later.
When Ava Cross suddenly knocks on his door in the middle of a storm, soaking wet and in dire need of help, he’s determined to settle old scores and finally get her between the sheets where she belongs.

Ava knows Kellan is a complex man with a dark past and a wild reputation he can’t deny. Forced to stay, Ava begins a desperate search for the truth about the one man she wants to despise and quickly discovers that the passion she feels for him isn’t just deep…it’s dangerous to her heart.

Kellan is a beautiful distraction. When the traps of her own weakness stand in the way, Ava is faced with one choice only: peel off the layers of a man who's a wild cowboy at heart.

Author’s note – Beautiful Distraction is a full-length standalone novel with no cliffhanger. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

 2.5 stars

So Beautiful Distraction started off well enough for me. Kellan and Ava meet in a fender bender and they both take an instant dislike to each other but sparks are flying. They part ways after but the way Kellan and Ava meet up again was really odd to me and seemed strange to me. Turns out it wasn’t coincidence and this is explained towards the end but it kind of threw the story off for me. The twist concerning who Kellan was left me saying “come on” and I was a bit disappointed. Sadly the flow of the story didn’t work for me and Ava’s constantly pushing Kellan away took up most of the book and it was exhausting. Due to this I wasn’t sold on them falling for each other.

All that said there were parts I did enjoy. Her friend was pretty funny and I liked that she was trying to get her friend out of her shell. Even though I didn’t feel their love story they had great bedroom chemistry. The sex scenes between Kellan and Ava were smoking hot and honestly Ava needed to let loose.

I’d like to add that just because this didn’t work for me doesn’t mean it won’t for you. If you like the smoking hot bad boy that pushes the uptight heroines buttons you will probably like this.
