From New York Times Bestseller Pepper Winters comes a timeless love story answering the question of what happens when everything is stripped away.

Blog Tour Unseen Messages

"There is a message for everything. From handwritten to verbal, seen and unseen. Messages exist all around us." But what if you don't see? What if you don't understand? What if, by ignoring the message, your life is never the same again? Estelle Evermore morphed from nobody to somebody overnight. Galloway Oak put his past behind him and endeavored to make his fortune using his trade. Two strangers. One plane. Multiple unseen messages. From sky to island, they find neither fame nor skills can save them. Stripped from society and left alone to survive the elements, the very task of staying alive outweighs all other needs. Until survival turns to desire. And desire turns to danger.

“How are you feeling?” I hugged myself, doing my best to stay warm. Daytimes were hot but the nights…weren’t. If lack of hunger didn’t kill us, the swinging temperatures would. Galloway glanced away. “I’m fine.” “Would you tell me if you weren’t?” A flicker of amusement. “Probably not.” “Such a man.” “I would’ve expected a worse name than that.” We made eye contact. My heart became a stupid pinwheel. “Oh? What should I call you?” He shrugged. “I dunno. Idiot? Douche-bag? Those are two.” I let the joviality hover, enjoying the simplicity. “I don’t think either of those suit you.” His voice switched to an intoxicating murmur. “What do you suggest then?” Turning to face him, I cocked my head. I used it as an excuse to stare at him. Stare at his dark brown hair curling over his forehead, the pink sunburn on his nose, and his perfectly formed lips. My stomach fluttered as his gaze dropped to my mouth. Everything tightened. My muscles, my core, my heart. I wanted to bridge the gap between us. I wanted to wrap myself around him, and in turn, have his arms wrap around me, stealing reassurance that tomorrow would be a better day. Joking disappeared as we stood, totally silent, utterly immobile, neither breaking the spell. It was unbelievably stupid to get caught up in desire, but in that stolen moon-sleeping moment, reality vanished and I indulged in guilty, desperately needed pleasure. Kiss him. Galloway sucked in a breath as I swayed closer. I didn’t touch him. No hands or arms or fingers. Just closed the distance, stood on my toes, and pressed my lips to his. He froze. I froze. The world froze as our lips joined, and I forgot what came next. I forgot because every thought in my head erupted into a thousand pieces of confetti. His lips, oh… They were so warm and firm and masculine and… He tilted his head ever so slightly, the tip of his tongue caressing me. His touch wasn’t a seduction more of a question. What are you doing? I’d kissed him. It was up to me to decide how the kiss would morph. Did I kiss him in thanks? In friendship? In desperation for everything I might never see again? Or did I kiss him in lust? In attraction? In hopes of finding my rules on friendship could be stretched to something more? Galloway bit back a groan as I parted my lips, accepting everything I couldn’t articulate. His hand swooped up, capturing the back of my neck. His fingers tightened around my nape, pulling me harder against his mouth. The possessive pressure undid me; I swiped my tongue into his wet warmth. And that was it. He snapped. His crutch thudded softly to the sand as his arm wrapped tightly around me, lifting me off my feet. A few hops and hobbles and my back wedged against the umbrella tree, my front bowing under the hard lines of his body. I gasped as his fingers hooked around my hair, tugging my head back, kissing me harder. Oh, God. He was everywhere at once. Kissing me with an intensity I worried would devour me. Don’t stop. His hands ran down my body only to recapture my face. Kissing me harder, faster, wilder. Wait… I clung to him, letting him do what he wanted because it gave me the freedom to live in sensation. Stop. I couldn’t stop. My lips danced with his; our tongues fought and licked. Stop! Lust crushed everything in its path. I melted as Galloway grabbed my thigh and hitched it over his hip. I arched my back as his hand skated to my breast. I moaned as— “Wait!” I pushed him away, panting hard. He growled as I removed his fingers from my nipple. The sharp jolt of liquid pleasure almost made me give in. But this wasn’t real life. This wasn’t some holiday. This was serious. This can’t happen. Ducking away from the cage of his arms, I did my best to straighten my hair. Conner and Pippa still slept (thank God) and I rubbed my lips to rid the electrical current left by his kiss. Galloway breathed hard. “What was that?” I paced in front of him. “I—I don’t know.” “You kissed me, remember?” “I know I did.” “Then why did you stop?” “Just because I kissed you doesn’t mean I was going to sleep with you.” “Oh, no? You were pretty keen on the idea a few seconds ago.” The heat throbbing in my core rapidly switched to indignation. “Wow, your ego’s pretty big, you know that?” “That’s not the only thing that’s big.” He winked. “Really? You’re going to treat this like a sleazy pickup?” Infuriation was a smoking fire in my chest. “That’s low, Galloway.” “What do you want? An apology for something I didn’t start?” His jaw ticked. “Look, I’m aware that there are things about me that aren’t…smooth. A lot of me is riddled with flaws. But that kiss…it wasn’t one of them. That kiss—” He cut himself off, whistling under his breath. “That kiss was the best damn kiss I’ve ever had.”

Unseen Messages Full wrap

Unseen Messages is a fascinating story of survival, what-ifs, finding out who you are, and what you are made of. Should you ignore all the warnings when they are screaming at you? What are the consequences of listening to or ignoring that voice yelling danger? How will you handle the consequences of your choices?

Galloway and Estelle are thrown together on a flight; they are in route to make some life changes and are hopeful for some new beginnings. They definitely get a new life for themselves but not in the way they expected and it changes them forever. I hesitate to say too much because you should go in as blind as you can but their story spans eight years and it is a turbulent ride. The book is filled with danger, passion, loss, hope, and love. You should dive into it and enjoy the ride, flipping the pages in anticipation of what will happen next made it all the more exciting to read.

The beginning of their story sucked me in and I was pretty much riveted all the way to the end. This book is really long but I still read it in about two days. It was a bit slow in some parts with the day to day events. Part of me wanted it to speed up but if I am being honest I was also truly fascinated with what was happening and how they were surviving. I realized I was tensing up a lot too. I was scared for the characters and so hopeful for them. I went through a lot of emotions reading this book; frustration, hope, heartbreak, and happiness. I felt every high and low the characters had, and every happy and sad moment they had.

The first half of the book Galloway was a struggle for me. He is a man with a past that has made him completely insecure and fills him with self-loathing. This insecurity bled into everything that was happening between him and Estelle as well as the circumstances they were in. At times he was too much, but all the characters in the story grow and change and so does Galloway. In the end I saw him as incredibly strong, resilient, and brave. Estelle was like superwoman, she was strong, nurturing, fearless, and loyal. In reality this is who she was deep down but she also had to be the savior and remain the glue that kept them all together.

I really loved how Ms. Winters wrapped up the story. Even though I wanted a different outcome for one character (and I was heartbroken) I still loved how this story ended. This was a great story of learning to survive with not only the things surrounding you but the people you make your family.

COVER REVEAL - STARS by MALORIE VERDANT

STARS
by Malorie Verdant
Coming APRIL 30th!

He changed my life.
With a smile, a flick of his wrist and a death-defying stunt.
He was six and I was five.
And now, thirteen years later, I am hopelessly in love.
There is only a slight problem.
He doesn’t know I exist.
He’s the star quarterback.
I’m a science nerd who hides in the shadows.
I don’t need anyone to tell me that college won't change anything.
I know he’s the star of this story.
And I belong in the audience.

Parker Elliot is going to Penmore State University miles away from home. She's leaving her small town because Penmore has a fantastic science department, because she needs to begin exploring the life she wants to lead and because Grayson Waters is the starting quarterback for the Penmore Herons.

Grayson Waters at first glance lives life to the fullest, but he is dealing with more than meets the eye. A con artist father in trouble with local mobsters, an illegitimate brother living close by, the pressure of leading his team to the championship game and a desire to pursue a career outside the football field. Decisions need to be made. For Gray, slipping into the shadows with a pretty and observant brunette might be just what he needs to finally make the right ones.

I first started reading romance when I was twelve.

My mother handed me her copy of Nora Robert’s Midnight Bayou and with resignation said, “Here you’ll love it, just skip the sex scenes or at least tell me you did.”

She knew I was young and she hoped I didn’t understand the diverse innuendos, but she also saw early on that I was a hopeless romantic and had a joy and thirst for romance novels that not even she and her protective motherly instincts could stop.

    CATCHING SERENITY EXCERPT
Quinn grabs the sketch from the floor, waving it at me like a threat. “This? This proves that I see beyond the surface otherwise you wouldn’t have sat there staring at it for ages, would you?” Some of my anger eases, dips down in the pit of my stomach as I watch him. He’d just revealed more of himself, unintentionally, than he ever had before, and there was no way I’d let that bit of information go without comment. “How do you know how long I looked at it?” He walks away, stepping backward, like he’s only just realized what a slip he made, but I follow, edging him toward the door. “Is that what you’re always going to do, Quinn?” He is almost gone. “Run away because you’re scared?” “I’m not scared of anything.” He takes a step, shoulders back, ready for a fight. “Not a fecking thing.” “Yeah? Then why are you leaving? Because I upset you?” I grab his arm when he turns, making him face me. “Because I made you admit how empty your life is?” Quinn won’t look at me, seems to prefer to keep as much distance between us as possible and I almost let him leave, figuring that he’ll argue with me all night if I allow it. But the emptiness, the need to seek out what is missing in his life from my little cousin, is a warning sign, a flag of caution that tells me he is hurting, far more than he lets on. It’s not unusual, something that everyone else on the planet is going through, but Quinn is the one around Rhea. Quinn is the one that has opened a chasm in our lives just by being here. When I step forward, he retreats further until he is against the door. His swagger is gone. His attitude missing. Standing before me is a scared boy, one who swallows thickly, who blinks as though he isn’t sure what’s about to happen. I’ve never seen Quinn like this. I’ve never seen him as open, as raw as when I reach for him, extending my fingers so that they hoover next to his cheek. “What are you doing?” He grabs my wrist, but his grip, his defense is weak. “Seeing how scared I can make you.” He doesn’t move when I touch him. Quinn holds his breath when I move my fingers across his face. His cheeks are arched, the bones long and supple and he shakes, the tips of his hair moving the closer I get to him. He doesn’t resist me, but his back stiffens when I kiss him, barely putting any pressure at all against his mouth. It’s only when I move his face, when I slip the slightest hint of tongue against his mouth that Quinn makes a sound at all. And then, he responds, like someone has turned a switch in his brain, given him permission to respond. Quinn moves his hands up my back, threading his fingers in my hair, yanking so that my head comes back, but our mouths stay connected. He towers over me, his body moving, grazing against mine. We become motion, heat. I sink further and further into the abyss, forgetting who I am, what I’m supposed to be. There is only Quinn’s mouth against mine and those low, primal sounds that lift from his throat. His breath coats my neck, his fingers dip, they spread against my skin, down the slope of my back, up to tweak and cup my breast. Against my hip, I feel the thick outline of his dick and shudder against him, tightening my fingers into his shirt as Quinn grinds, pushes himself into me harder and harder. He doesn’t stop, isn’t cautious or kind and pushes me up, holding my ass against his squeezing fingers, our bodies coming together, needy, gripping like something desperate, something inevitable. “Feck,” he mutters so low that I barely make out the curse. He is breathless, desperate and I feel it in every swipe of his mouth, his tongue along my skin and the gripping possession of his hands pulling my leg up to his hip, settling me so close that our centers meet over and over, teasing, promising. My thoughts are clearer now. There is only sensation and that drive to complete, to finish, a will older than any of us and it is this Quinn who matches me. Quinn who helps me loosen the tight hold I have on everything weighing me down. There is no logic to this. There is only need and that ancient inclination to fill it. It’s only then, right at that moment, that I realize the past few hours, fighting with him, insulting each other, was the first time in two years Rhea didn’t consume my thoughts and the smallest hint of suggestion flirts in my mind. Quinn had done that, his words, his anger, then his touch, had all numbed me to the sense of loss, to the one thing I prayed every day I could avoid. I break the kiss, pushing on his chest to catch my breath. “You... you let me forget,” I tell him, a little out of my mind with lust, then stoned completely when Quinn moves his tongue across my neck, biting gently against my collarbone. “I can make you forget, Sayo…we can forget together.” But I can’t forget, not completely. Quinn is a bully, a liar unwilling to share who he is with anyone but a dying girl. This thing between us, whatever it is, is a Band Aid, not a fix and no matter how good he feels, no matter how strong that drive is, it will not answer my questions or keep the nightmare that approaches at bay. But maybe, just maybe, it will be enough. “Tell me,” I say, holding him back when he presses forward, needy for my mouth, anxious to taste my skin again. “Why did you draw that?” Quinn stops, staring down at me, watching my face closely for something he doesn’t mention. “Why does it matter?” “I need to know.” Nodding once, Quinn drops my legs, pushes off from the door, and moves away from my body with only a brief touch of his fingertips on my face before he jerks his hand away and moves me aside to open the door. “Get used to disappointment.” And then, he slams the door behind him as he leaves, taking the warmth of his body and the promise of what he could give me.

RELEASE BLITZ - THE FIRE BETWEEN HIGH & LO by BRITTANY C CHERRY

Title: The Fire Between High & Lo
Series: Romance Elements #2
Author: Brittainy C. Cherry
Genre: Romance
 Release Date: March 25, 2016

Blurb

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

Logan Francis Silverstone and I were complete opposites. I danced, and he stood still. He was quiet, while I ran my mouth. He struggled to find a smile, and I refused to frown.

The night I saw the darkness that truly lived inside of him, I couldn't look away.

We were broken together, yet somehow whole. We were wrong together, but always right. We were the stars that burned across the night sky, searching for a wish, praying for better tomorrows.

Until the day I lost him. He threw us away with one hasty decision--a decision that changed us forever.

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

And for a few breaths, a few whispers, a few moments, I think he loved me, too.

I really enjoyed the beginning of this story. Logan is living with his drug addicted mother and is suffering from neglect. Alyssa has what would be considered a better life on the outside but her mother is emotionally abusive. Alyssa and Logan meet and find happiness in each other. They had a lot in common since they were both abandoned by their parents in different ways. They had a very sweet young love and I was rooting for them. Things happen and Logan spirals out of control and starts using drugs heavily. This causes other tragic events to unfold and Logan leaves to deal with his issues but doesn’t come back.

Logan's leaving frustrated me and so the second half of the story was a hard sell. He comes back to town for his brother’s wedding and of course sees Alyssa again. One of my big issues is how quickly Alyssa forgives Lo. I won’t spoil the story, but when Lo leaves, Alyssa is not in a good place and the way he treated her was cold.

I also wish the author would have toned down how many times the guys “snickered” in the book. There were some funny and sweet moments in this book. In the end I had a hard time connecting to either character. I definitely felt bad for both of them but the book didn’t pull me in like I wanted.

3 stars
